Parent Testimonials

“Jenni is so knowledgeable. My child is in grade 2 and struggling with reading. Jenni gives him the foundations and rules of our language and it helps him retain (and extend upon) what he needs to know. I wish we were taught this way as kids, I’m learning too!”
— Parent, Chermside.

“When we first met Jenni 8 months ago, I was feeling very defeated. My eldest child was anxious, and suffering with learned helplessness. My younger child was immensely frustrated and ready to give up (on school and learning).

Although we had seen specialist tutors previously, for the children’s varying degrees of learning difficulties, no amount of effort from my children or the tutors made the information really stick.

Jenni made my two children feel at ease straight away and very quickly created a structured learning program according to their individual strengths and weaknesses. Jenni has been an integral part in the fantastic progress my children have made these past two years (2017-2018).

My children are now more confident readers and writers and we all feel, that with Jenni as their specialist teacher, we are finally on the right path. We could not ask for a more passionate, understanding and flexible teacher!!”

“Hi Jenni, I’ve been meaning to find time to speak to you, but haven’t managed it when we have seen you so have decided we need to write an email to let you know the outcome of your chat with (our son) last weekend.

The school met with us and the short story is they agreed to 3 short “movement breaks” at designated times, and that he starts late on Thurs and finishes early on Friday to give us time to do his program.

We agreed he needed a reduced load for the work he wasn’t able to complete (he wasn’t so keen on this originally), and that he would work towards some achievable goals (e.g. personal organisation with the stickers on his books like you suggested).
(Our son) didn’t seem to see the gravity of the situation at first, taking what the school had agreed to very lightly.

But the amazing thing that I have noticed is a big shift in his attitude towards his literacy program (most of the time) and more importantly, a huge shift in his moods – he is so much more positive (again, most of the time) about life.

So, I can’t thank you enough for your enormous contribution to what seems to be a huge turn around.”

Teacher Testimonials – Professional Development 2019

The note above was feedback from the Principal of Junction Park SS (JPSS), following a whole staff professional development session in January 2019.

Other teacher feedback in response to the statements, ‘The most useful aspect/My favourite part of today’s presentation was…’:

Explaining the morphemic elements as this hadn’t been explained before, explicitly.  Now everything feels clearer.  Year 4 Teacher, JPSS

This was a very structured PD with lots of examples of word sums…and deepened my understanding of how to show and announce word sums.  Year 2 Teacher, JPSS

The way you modeled how to write and verbally announce daily messages for the students.  Prep Teacher, JPSS

The ‘Vowel Hand’ demonstration, and where to start with younger students.  Prep Teacher, JPSS

I like how you made us constantly refer to the Suffix Checker chart to remind us how to use it in class with students.  Making the word sums (then) made us check the chart and showed us how we can explain changes to the students.  Year 5 Teacher, JPSS

Explaining the single, final, non-syllabic <e>.  Year 6 Teacher, JPSS

Explaining ‘Schwa’.  Year 5 Teacher, JPSS.

This was my first session on the topic so it was interesting to listen to.  Teacher Aide, JPSS

How you clearly explained and modeled the three Suffix Patterns of English.  (Many) Teachers, JPSS

I liked learning that certain letters don’t double and how to clearly announce (spell out) a word sum.  (Many) Teachers, JPSS
